The Beaches Hair Collective

greyBYE

Week four is when it turns up — that line at the part you catch in the car mirror on the way to drop-off. Your colour appointment is a fortnight away. This buys you the fortnight.

A precision brush, not a spray and not a powder. It goes exactly where you put it, blends into natural or highlighted hair, and holds through the day. One shampoo and it is gone. It is not a permanent colour and will not change your base colour.

Ingredients & safety

Ingredients (INCI), as declared by the manufacturer:

Isododecane, Hydrogenated Styrene/Isoprene Copolymer, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Isododecane, Acrylates Copolymer, Quaternium-18 Hectorite, Triethyl Citrate, Phenoxyethanol, Isohexadecane, Quaternium-18 Hectorite, Triethyl Citrate, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Parfum, CI 77891, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 77491

CI 77891 is titanium dioxide; CI 77492, CI 77499 and CI 77491 are iron oxides. These are the pigments that give each shade its colour, so the ratio differs between Sandbar, Driftwood and Headland.

Patch test 24 hours before first use. Apply a small amount behind the ear or on the inner arm and leave it. If you notice redness, itching or irritation, do not use it. Avoid contact with the eyes. Keep out of reach of children. For external use on hair only. Contains methylparaben and propylparaben as preservatives, and fragrance (parfum).

Sixty seconds

Made for in between hair colour appointments

01

Brush it through

Short downward strokes along the part and the temples, following the direction the hair falls. The brush is narrow on purpose.

02

Give it thirty seconds

Let it set before you touch it or style over it. That thirty seconds is the difference between it holding all day and it ending up on your collar.

03

Wash it out tonight

One shampoo and it's gone. It sits on the hair rather than in it, so it never builds up and never changes your base colour.

Why this exists

Because you shouldn’t have to wait to feel confident.

I’ve been colouring hair on the Northern Beaches for years, from my little boutique salon in Brookvale, where I see just one client at a time.

Over the years, I noticed the same thing — those few weeks between colour appointments when greys, roots and flyaways start to show.

So I created something simple for those in-between days. 🤍

A little precision brush, made for hair.

Questions

The things people actually ask

Will it come off on my clothes or my pillow?

Not once it's set. Give it the full thirty seconds before you touch it or style over it, and go lightly if you're caught in rain or heavy humidity. It's designed to hold through a normal day and come out in the shower that night.

How do I know which shade to pick?

Match to the colour of your lengths, not your regrowth. If you're between two, go lighter.

Is it safe on coloured or highlighted hair?

Yes. It sits on the surface of the hair rather than penetrating it, so it won't lift, shift or stain your existing colour, and it won't interfere with your next appointment. Patch test 24 hours before first use, as with any cosmetic.

How much grey will it cover?

It's built for regrowth at the part and temples — the first stage of grey, not a full head of it. If you're more than about 40% grey overall you'll get a better result from a colour appointment, and we'd rather tell you that than sell you the wrong thing.

How long does one greyBYE last?

Six to ten weeks for most people, using it two or three times a week between appointments.

How fast is delivery, and is it really free?

Really free, anywhere in Australia, with no minimum spend. Australia Post standard delivery is typically 2–6 business days depending where you are; regional and WA addresses sit at the longer end. You'll get tracking as soon as your parcel is scanned.

Or collect it free from the salon in Brookvale — we'll email when it's ready. We don't currently ship outside Australia.

Can I return it?

Unopened products can be returned within 30 days for a full refund. Return postage is yours. For hygiene reasons we can't accept opened cosmetics on change of mind.

If something is wrong with the product, our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You're entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. Email us and we'll sort it out — we'd rather fix it than argue about it.
